An e-mail I got thought I would share it with my zone family.
After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, Now You Get Mad?
You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.
You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq .
You didn't get mad when a covert CIA operative got ousted.
You didn't get mad when the Patriot Act got passed.
You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.
You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.
You didn't get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.
You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq .
You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.
You didn't get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.
You didn't get mad when the government was illegally wiretapping Americans.
You didn't get mad when we didn't catch Bin Laden.
You didn't get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.
You didn't get mad when you saw the horrible conditions at Walter Reed.
You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans , drown.
You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.
You didn't get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.
You didn't get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.
You didn't get mad when lack of oversight and regulations from the Bush Administration caused US Citizens to lose 12 trillion dollars in investments, retirement, and home values.
You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick...Oh, Hell No!!
ps. This one definitely needs to be circulated just for a reminder sake!!!!!
It would be really really nice if people would take a long long look at a little thing called the checks and balances before writing these things. Or, because I might be asking a lot there, just simply knew something, anything at all, about the US Governmental system.
Let me clue all the people who read this and shouted, "hell yeah, fuck bush" into a little fact about our government, listen closely kiddies, there's going to be a test later. The president does not have all the power in the government. He doesn't even have all the power in the executive branch, (that's the part of the government that the president belongs to, in case you haven't picked up a constitution lately, which I find extremely probable). The president does two things, and that's it, he passes or vetos bills, and he commands the military. Everything else is handled by someone else.
Let me explain how this applies to this hatred filled, ignorant email circulation, (parenthetically, please stop getting your news and information from email circulations. Doesn't anyone realize that all you have to do to have an email circulation is an email account? I have an email account, your little sister probably has an email account. Do you want her to give you every piece of news you ever get? Read people, it won't hurt you, I promise. Now, back to what I was saying.) Most of the things in this list of things you didn't get mad at, which I'm pretty sure a lot of people got mad at, aren't under the perview of the president, or in some cases even the United States Government as a whole.
Tax breaks, not the president, budgeting, partly the president but mostly the congress, court room "appointing the president", laughable, factually idiotic, and not the president, New Orleans, not the president, even iraq wasn't really the president that much, I mean yes, he played a part in it, but he wasn't the major player. I'd also like to point out that the black man this email completely touts, hasn't done anything for iraq. Oh, and the finding benladin thing, that was the seals and a whole lot of luck, not the president, and that's either president, bush or obama.
Now, the borrowing from foreign governments more than all the other presidents combined, that's true; and its also true of obama, who borrowed more than all the presidents before him, which includes bush, who borrowed more than all the people before him. This, and this is a little thing we call logic kiddies, means that obama borrowed more than bush could ever have mathematically borrowed. But that's partly a good thing, we need to have a national debt, we also need to pay it off, and the last president who even tried to do that was... clinton, who is actually not obama, even if people want him to be.
In closing kiddies, I invite you to read the articles of the constitution. you could also read the amendments if you wish, I highly suggest them. If, after reading all that, you still don't understand what powers the president does and does not have, and have not realized that you can't actually lay all the blame on one president, at any time, ever, throughout the course of our history because eight years, or ten as the law actually allows, is not enough time to completely fix or destroy our nation as a whole, you simply can't do it. Each president, from obama to washington, had to deal with a situation that existed before he got into office, and none of them, not even FDR who was elected four times, is in office long enough to fix everything or destroy everything. That is why we have the checks and balances. If you don't realize all of that after reading the constitution and learning how our government actually works, then shut the fuck up and stop sending out email circulations that just make you look like an idiot to those in the world who know what they're talking about.
Oh, and that test I mentioned, its called voting, try it, if you don't try it, you can't bitch because you didn't make a choice.
Sadly I have to agree with post 2. I'd absolutely love to blame all of that on George Bush, who I honestly don't like. But unfortunately life's a bit more complicated than one man. That having been said, it does seem like a lot of vocal people get mad at some really stupid things sometimes. I have no idea what this health care thing people are elegedly mad it is, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were people who had issues withit. People look for any rasn to complain, either because it's "in" to hate something, or because they're terribly mis-informed.....In this case, the "people" I refer to are NOT! everyone. I just wanted to clear that up.
I don't really like george bush either, nor do I really like the health bill, I think there are better ways to solve that problem, but that is beside the point.
Nope the president, has to agree with other in his or her power group, and thats many people. Now how to you know I didn't get mad? I didn't get mad at the president, though because of the health plan.
Agreed completely with Cody. As much as I would love to blame everything on Bush; as much as I didn't like him and was glad when his term was over, if you could blame Bush for all our problems then, you, by the same logic, can blame Obama for all our problems now. I do agree that it's sad how screwed up some peoples' priority lists are in terms of what they let bother them in this country, but neither president is entirely to blame for this. The human species makes mistakes all the time. How would you like to be blamed for the combined mistakes of millions? Yeah; didn't think so.
Good points, SilverLightning.
Honestly, if people did what Cody said, and looked at election campaigns like a job interview situation, they'd probably make informed choices.
For those of you kiddies who have yet to interview people to work for you let me 'splain.
When you are asked to be a part of an interview process you are given two things usually: A resume (of the applicant) and a job description.
More things if you are the primary interviewer of course.
Before you interview, you look over the job description and the resume. During the interview, if you have a brain, you see how well this person matches the job description. The interview is where you can get them to fill in places where you had questions, based on what you read on their resume.
Now, as a voter, the job description is in the U.S. Constitution, or in the case of your state leaders, your state's constitution. The resume can now often be found on voteSmart.org and other places where you can look at the candidate's record on various policies, offices held, etc.
The Bush Administration, with the Republican-held Congress, and the appointed staff, did what they did because you asked them to. There was positively nothing cloaked or clandestined about any of them: Cheney had a record in the White house from years past. While bush painted himself as a centrist in 2000, having the Log Cabin (gay) republicans standing up there all cozy with Jerry Fallwell, anyone with a brain and an Internet connection could tell there was going to be something quite different.
People talk so much about who you vote for for President, when in fact your local offices have far greater impact on your local economy than do national offices. Certainly your state representative and congress people are at least as important. Cody did a great job with the basic description of the president's duties, so no need to repeat, but we are in fact a republic: representative government.
So, we put them there, whoever the 'them' happens to be, and quite often they do what you may expect, based on their past record.
And, the one-issue voters, those with the checklist of items for which the candidate must stand, are stupid. If it's not related to the job description, it doesn't matter.
Now that we have VoteSmart.org and other online resources, we, especially we blind people, have no excuse, zero, none, for not becoming properly informed. Some of us, at least, remember when you were lucky to get a casette tape with the voter's pamphlet. But with the resources at your disposal now, nonpolitical fact-based resources, you have no excuse, I have no excuse. We're the ones that put them there: we weren't victimized by Bush or Obama. It's what we wanted as a population.
What boggles my mind is when there are real numbers out there, how people would rather just watch the religious and fanatical pundits of all sorts, from grass-eater to fundamentalist Christan, rather than just do the math. McCain's health care proposal of 2008 comes to mind. He published his figures online, how much was available as a tax write-off, etc. So, I got a calculator, plugged in the numbers for people I know from different income brackets, looked at the results which obviously affected my decision. But many people, even given data like that, would rather read a political magazine, watch a show like a political debate, etc.
So we get ourselves the best debater, the one the churches and the advertising companies want, because most people don't know the President's job isn't going to be debating or advertising for the church or PETA or whoever.
Take Cody's Advice, and there's an app for that: the U.S. Constitution is in your app store. If not that, it's certainly available in a plethora of places elsewhere. Good place to get your job description for candidates from.
Kinda a sore spot for me too, this whole monkeying around with single-issue, single-party, schoolyard-politics voting.
Maybe rather than get mad, learn something.
"You finally got mad when a black man was elected President" This statement smells of racism. Who cares if he's black, lime green, hot pink, or fluorescent orange?
so according to you and your camp lets see:
first, I am racist because I hate obama
second, is a terrorist and everything that is awful because I am a right winger.
third, I am really unamerican because I don't like obama and don't like this country to succeed?
Yeah......., pal, how about hell no?
“After The 8 Years Of The Bush/Cheney Disaster, Now You Get Mad?”
Whoa! Hang on Dick and George was a disaster? They caused a disaster. Yeah, I agree they made mistakes and I don’t agree with them, but how were they a disaster?
And, why assume all republicans are agreeing with Bush? Biggest mistakes liberals make or oh you know all of us likes John McCain. Now I am offended. Seriously? You know there’s more then republicans to the right wing right? You know we’re not all Bush, McCain, And Romney supporters right? Well, now you do. We’re not.
“You didn't get mad when the Supreme Court stopped a legal recount and appointed a President.”
You know, the Supreme court doesn’t elect a president!
“You didn't get mad when Cheney allowed Energy company officials to dictate Energy policy and push us to invade Iraq .”
We’re fighting islam not oil moron get over yourself!
“You didn't get mad when we illegally invaded a country that posed no threat to us.”
Excuse me, they posed no threat? yeah, get a reality check nutter! 9-11 happened, and why would a president want to plan and make it happen?
“You didn't get mad when we spent over 800 billion (and counting) on said illegal war.”
It wasn’t illegal we’re fighting for our freedoms for a better world.
“You didn't get mad when Bush borrowed more money from foreign sources than the previous 42 Presidents combined.”

“You didn't get mad when over 10 billion dollars in cash just disappeared in Iraq .”
And you’re more bothered by that then the millions that disappear because of prezbo, nutcase nancy Princess Pelosi, and the rest of there thug like gang robbed from the states and you?
“You didn't get mad when you found out we were torturing people.”
For the truth? No, not at all, because that was the only way to get the real deal revealed and confessed to by these terrorists
“You didn't get mad when Bush embraced trade and outsourcing policies that shipped 6 million American jobs out of the country.”
While Obama is sending a lot more times than that figure overseas because of his tax hikes? Bush had some interesting ideas but Obama is 100 times worse.
“You didn't get mad when Bush rang up 10 trillion dollars in combined budget and current account deficits.”
Obama does a ton better than that doesn’t he? Well no! he does a million times worse, we’re in more debt than we were ever before! And look! For the first time he ruined our credit raiting, what a shame! Bush wouldn’t ever do that!
“You didn't get mad when we let a major US city, New Orleans , drown.”
Oh yeah, very nice blame it on bush that the flood in New Orleans happened. We should blame all our problems on government shouldn’t we? We’re all innocent aren’t we? Get real people!
“You didn't get mad when we gave people who had more money than they could spend, the filthy rich, over a trillion dollars in tax breaks.”
Filthy rich? They earned it! They deserve every penny! And, yet too often they are the ones who are paying the most! So, how are they going to create jobs, they need that money to create the jobs!
“You didn't get mad with the worst 8 years of job creations in several decades.”
And your God Obama does brilliantly at that doesn’t he, where are the jobs? How is Obama working out for you? Is he really helping you?
“You didn't get mad when over 200,000 US Citizens lost their lives because they had no health insurance.”
How is that Bushes fault? He’s no father of there’s? If you want your health insurance, go buy it, and if you don’t have money? Well go get off your sorry asses and pursue careers, because I am sorry money isn’t going to ffall out of the sky for you! You’re not that special!
“You finally got mad when a black man was elected President and decided that people in America deserved the right to see a doctor if they are sick. Yes, illegal wars, lies, corruption, torture, job losses by the millions, stealing your tax dollars to make the rich richer, and the worst economic disaster since 1929 are all okay with you, but helping fellow Americans who are sick...Oh, Hell No!!”
No! we hate Obama because he’s a fascish. Because he’s socialistic. Because he’s an idiot and a thug! Because he’s a Chicago gangster that has no experience at all to rule this country and definitely did not and does not qualify to be the president of the united states. He’s never known what the united states is, and he was ready to fundamentally transform the united states for the worse and far from the good!
“ps. This one definitely needs to be circulated just for a reminder sake!!!!!”
To hell with this e-mail. It belongs in the rubbish binns! And I am sorry I prefer 100 of Perrys nonsensical speeches and debates over this very ignorant and uneducated e-mail.
yes, this email is very uneducated, but so are those who blindly follow the propaganda put forth by the media without a second glance. Just sayin. and yes, that includes the propaganda during Bush's time, as well as Obama's. Honestly, I don't think it matters who we have in office, because everyone has their own ideas about how to make this country better, and none of those ideas are going to be able to please everybody.
We are *not* fighting Islam. To say that we are is an insult to the men and women in uniform who happen to be Muslims.
We have engaged against terrorist outfits. Terrorism is a lifestyle, and religion or ideology is just one of many excuses for it.
George W. Bush was correct when he said that terrorists recruit from shattered economies and exploit the disenfranchised.
Since all members of the service are united, we would be fighting ourselves if we were fighting Christian, atheist, Muslim, Wiccan, or any other groups who are represented by uniformed men and women who would do anything to save your skinny little petulant ass.
